Bank supports community with sports awards banquet
As part of the local financial community since 1869, Terre Haute Savings Bank (THSB) has remained under the same name and ownership and has maintained its strong involvement in the area, where local high school sports are a popular pastime. As an important component of its community involvement, THSB participates in many programs to support high school sports.
Recognizing that there was not an event to recognize athletes from the entire area and from all 21 high school sports, THSB established the Wabash Valley All Sports Team to honor outstanding male and female high school senior athletes from west central Indiana and east central Illinois. The bank asked MillerWhite to help organize the awards and a spring recognition banquet. MillerWhite designed the award/event logo, created invitations for the banquet, sent out press releases to the media and assisted with technology for a highlight video that was shown at the banquet. An initial letter calling for nominations for outstanding athletes went out to athletic directors at area high schools, and the award was promoted by sponsoring partner WTWO-TV, which encouraged viewers to nominate athletes on the its web site. MillerWhite assisted with banquet preparations and created the program listing the All Sports Team. In support of the athletes, the bank awarded two $2,500 college scholarships, whose winners were drawn at random during the banquet.
Probably more so than any of THSB’s previous efforts, the All Sports Team represents the spirit of the bank’s pledge and tag line, “The local bank believing in the Valley.” It has generated excitement at the high schools, has been well received by the public, and has continued to be an annual event.
