MillerWhite extends its in-house audio-video capability to the highest national quality broadcast standards with new HD camera and editing software
April 22, 2008

MillerWhite, LLC, as part of its pledge to provide the highest quality integrated marketing services to its clients, has made a major investment in advanced high-definition (HD) digital camera and processing equipment, giving it the capability to produce national-quality HD video in-house.

"This new HD camera will allow us to achieve the clearest, sharpest digital picture in our production of television commercials and videos and puts us at the highest level nationally for TV spots," Bill White of MillerWhite said.

According to a study from Kagan Research, nearly 180 million HDTV sets will have been sold to U.S consumers by 2010, penetrating more than 81% of television households. With the February 17, 2009 federal deadline for broadcast stations to convert from analog format to digital format, digital, and eventually HD, will become the standard format for commercials.

"We are continually pushing all of our service lines to set benchmarks for our industry and achieving it," said Brian Miller of MillerWhite. "Nowhere is this more true than in our in-house audio-video area."

MillerWhite's new Panasonic AG-HPX500 broadcast camcorder's signal processor handles HD and standard-definition (SD) format conversion simultaneously, ensuring superior images in all video formats for commercials, filmmaking, corporate video, sports and much more. With its new camcorder, MillerWhite can create SD or HD content in-house.

The camera eliminates the moving parts of tape- or disc-based systems. It captures video on a solid state card, which not only offers superior image quality but also eliminates the need for time-consuming, expensive conversion of shots to digital format, resulting in cost savings for the client.

Other benefits include:

  • higher camera resolution and improved camera sensitivity for increased brightness and a crisp, "high-sensitivity film" effect;
  • the flexibility to shoot in video or film mode depending on the situation and client need;
  • the ability to shoot in slow- and fast-motion, rather than adding the effect in editing;
  • the capability of producing audio in surround sound with the camera's four independent audio channels;
  • increased durability for shooting in harsh environments;
  • excellent performance in low-light situations, saving set-up time and increasing creative flexibility;
  • twice the amount of color information, even in SD, for sharper, brighter images.

The firm has upgraded its editing software to Final Cut Pro 6, the same software used to edit the 2008 Oscar-winning picture, "No Country for Old Men." Final Cut Pro is compatible with Panasonic's P2 system, saving editing time and money, and it offers professional color grading, 5.1 surround sound editing and podcast creation. With its superior in-picture editing system, the final product is clearer and crisper. The firm has also increased its sound and digital effects libraries by hundreds, giving the staff more creative flexibility.

White said the new camera and processing equipment will enhance the capabilities of MillerWhite's state-of-the-art in-house audio-video studio, where its creative staff has produced radio and television spots and video presentations that are of such quality that over the last two years they have earned the firm seven prestigious Telly Awards, and most recently the Brass Ring award from the Ad Club of Indianapolis.

MillerWhite, LLC provides integrated marketing/research, public relations, advertising and interactive media services to its clients from offices in Indianapolis and Terre Haute.
