Crisis management effort for client earns PR award for MillerWhite Integrated Marketing

Indianapolis - MillerWhite, LLC has received an Award of Achievement from the East Central District of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for crisis management tactics planned and implemented for Scott Pet of Rockville, Ind.

MillerWhite assisted Scott Pet, a manufacturer of wild birdseed products, in countering
a birdseed recall by a competitor with a similar name. Tactics included global media relations and influencing public opinion through blogs. The effort earned Scott Pet positive PR value of nearly $8 million and was successful to the extent that consumers showed no reluctance to choose Scott Pet’s birdseed when seeking a replacement for the recalled product.

The East Central District of the PRSA covers Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and West Virginia. Its 31st annual Diamond Awards competition recognized “shining examples of public relations campaigns and tactics” and was open to any public relations professional, including members of the district’s 15 chapters, or any nonmember whose place of business is within the district boundaries.
